Close to New York City, closer to Albany and Syracuse, Otsego County, New York has everything you need for filming. South of the Mohawk Valley, in the northern foothills of the Catskill Mountains, Otsego County is beautiful in every direction you can turn your camera. With two lakes, the headwaters of the Susquehanna River, vistas all over the place and all four seasons in vivid colors, we have the outdoor shots you need. Farms and woods dominate the landscape and there are thousands of acres of New York State Parks and private trust land. Otsego County also has dozens of dramatic hamlets, towns and villages, including Cooperstown, the home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. The city of Oneonta, known as the city of the hills and the gateway to the Catskills, has everything needed to stock your shoot, a great Main Street and two telegenic college campuses. The architecture of Otsego County is grounded in the 1800s with many examples of Greek Revival and Victorian buildings and including scenic rural landscapes and historic downtowns. Otsego County has much of the hotel and rental stock in the region and can offer great rates in the non-tourist season, Labor Day through Memorial Day. Snow is likely November through March and sometimes much longer. Upstate fall is gorgeous in the foothills and spring blooms late but colorful.
