City of San Antonio's Supplemental San Antonio Film Incentive Program (SSAI) eligibility requirements:

-Minimum $100K greater San Antonio metro area qualified spend
-Minimum hire of 70% Texas-based, with 10% greater San Antonio metro area-based, paid cast and crew (can include paid extras)
-60% of the project’s production days must take place in the greater San Antonio metro area (8 country area spanning Central & South Texas)
-Primary production office and hotel accommodations must be located in San Antonio

Q What are the eligibility requirements for the State of Texas' film incentive program (TMIIIP)?

State of Texas' Texas Moving Image Industry Incentive Program (TMIIIP) eligibility requirements:

-Minimum $250K in Texas qualified spend
-Minimum hire of 55% Texas-based paid cast and crew (can include paid extras)
-60% of the project’s production days must take place in Texas
-Additional uplift of 2.5% available to projects filming at least 25% of their total production days in the greater San Antonio metro area

Q What other cost savings can productions enjoy when filming in the greater San Antonio metro area?

Projects filming in the greater San Antonio metro area are also eligible for sales tax exemptions for items and services used in production. Projects filming in the greater San Antonio metro area may also be eligible to receive a refund of taxes paid on fuels used in off-highway, non-vehicular, gasoline-powered equipment such as generators, boats, or tractors. In addition, projects filming in the greater San Antonio metro area may also be eligible for Hotel Occupancy Tax Exemptions. As a Film Friendly certified community, there are no Film & Photography Permits fees, provided productions can meet minimum insurance requirements. The San Antonio Film Commission also provides government liaising and helps production teams access Film Friendly city services such as street and lane closures, traffic control, off-duty police personnel, and fire/ safety services.
